Prof. A.P.P Namboodiri

Born on 18th March 1929 at Amabalaputhur Illam, in Avidannallur village of Calicut district, A.P Parameswaran Namboodiri did his primary education at the village school and his Secondary education at Quilandy High School.

He was into the B.O.L Course in Sree kerala Varma College Trichur after completing his intermediate at the same institution. He took his Masters’s degree in Malayalam Literature from Madras University. He joined Farooke College as Malayalam Lecturer in 1951 and served the institution till 1982 as Professor and Head of the Department. In 1982 Prof. A.P.P joined V.T . Bhattathiripad College, Sree Krishnapuram as the Founder Principal and continued there till retirement in 1984. He was the Resident Editor of Sarva Vijnana Kosham Published by S.P.C.S.

He also served as the Chairman of Sree Sankara Trust. He died on 22-12-1991.

An enthusiastic entrepreneur by nature, Prof. A.P.P was actively involved in the cultural and education forums . He was the President of Kerala Sahithya Samithi, Vice President of the Kerala Grandna Sala Sangham, Member of the Board of Studies and Academic Council of Calicut University, Member of Malayalam Advisory Council of Kendra Sahitya Academy.

As an author Prof. A.P.P has wide acclaim,. He has published more than thirty books which include  literary criticism, drama and poetry. He has translated Maha Kavi Bhasan’s Sanskrit play “Prathima Natakam” into Malayalam. He has authored the biography of the social reformer V.T Bhattathiripadu under the title “V.T Oru Yugapurushan”. He was the recipient of the Kerala Sahithya Academy Award for Criticism in 1990.
